Evolution is when you get your Pokémon up to certain levels or use an item or something in order to get them to the next stage of their life. Totodile evolves at level 18 to Croconaw, who then evolves into a Feraligatr at level 30, or a Vulpix evolves into a Ninetales with the use of a Fire Stone. When your Pokémon is able to be evolved in a thread, evolve it on your own; you do not need to alert a staff member or anything. However, you must role play the evolution happening somewhere as proof that you didn't "cheat" the system and just evolve the Pokémon without meeting the necessary requirements. Listed below are the types of evolution and how they are done.
levels Many Pokémon evolve when they reach a certain level, which is simple. You earn levels by battling, and once you get to the level your Pokémon evolves at, they evolve.
items Some Pokémon require items in order to evolve, being changed by certain properties within the items. Some of the items evolve the Pokémon after one level is gained, others are for trading while the Pokémon holds the item.
trades Some Pokémon have to be traded between trainers in order to evolve. This can be an actual person that is willing to trade back to you, or an NPC that a mod presents to help you. Remember to attach an item if an item is needed.
happiness For a Pokémon that evolves with happiness, you must buy a Heart Scale from a store, then give it to whatever Pokémon you want to evolve, then you must level the Pokémon up once.
beauty For a Pokemon that evolves with beauty, you must buy a Beauty Scarf from a store and let your Pokémon hold it. Then you must level it up once, and your Pokémon will evolve.
locations Due to the region's lack of specific locations for Pokémon like Eevee and Magneton to evolve, you must attach a fragment of that location to evolve your Pokémon. There is the Moss Rock, the Frozen Rock, and the Mt. Coronet Stone. You give it to your Pokémon to hold, level them up once, and they will evolve.
time For a Pokémon that must level up or meet some other condition during either the day or night in order to evolve, it only needs to be day or night in the thread (not when the thread is posted) for that Pokémon to evolve.
other Some Pokémon evolve in a manner that cannot be replicated on a forum, so we instead have a list here for these "special evolutions".
Tyrogue: The role player decides what the Tyrogue evolves into (Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop) once it hits level 20 or beyond. Role playing-wise, it can be shown as the Tyrogue's decision or just be pure chance.
Wurmple: The role play decides whether the Wurmple evolves into Cascoon or Silcoon once it reaches level 7. Following that, Silcoon evolves into Beautifly while Cascoon evolves into Dustox. Role playing-wise, it can be shown as the Wurmple's decision or, again, pure chance.
Shedinja: Though not an evolution, you can obtain a Shedinja by sending a message to a mod after your Nincada evolves into a Ninjask, who will then give you the Shedinja's stats. Do not add a Shedinja to your character's profile yourself. The Shedinja will be level one, the same gender as the Ninjask that shed it, and know the moves Scratch and Harden. The name is up to the role player, but the mod gets to decide the Shedinja's nature.
Burmy: A male Burmy will always evolve into a Mothim, but a female one can evolve into one of three formes: Plant Wormadam, Sandy Wormadam and Trash Wormadam, depending on what "cloak" it is wearing at the time of evolution (i.e. where it battled last). In addition to having different types and stats, these Wormadam have different moves they can learn, so they are much like different Pokémon with the same name. What a female Burmy will evolve into is left to the discretion of the role player in order to prevent complications about exact locations: if the role player can justify a Burmy evolving into a Trash Forme Wormadam in a beautiful, grassy field, then so be it.
